San Miguel FAQ

Update October 4, 2022:

As you can see, based on these official graphics nothing has changed between Sept 27 and now. No new covid cases and no new deaths. That would be great, if true, but there is no way to distinguish between no actual change and the graphic has not updated. Which is it?

Based on these tweets from the GTO Secretaría de Salud there have been Covid cases reported in SMA ('Allende' in the chart) in this time frame:

The GTO Secretaría de Salud does not always include SMA in his tweets, and these update tweets do not appear every day. We know about these four cases but we don't know if there are others in this same timeframe. So, at least four new cases since September 27.

And this is why I am no longer doing daily updates. It is far too much work to piece together what may or may not be accurate reporting of the official numbers because the official numbers are not being consistently published.

The daily SMAFAQ Coronavirus Dashboard is discontinued. Based on events and data availability I may re-start it in the future. Today there is apparently no update for SMA or GTO from the official websites nor via tweet from the GTO Secretaría de Salud. There is an update for MEX from Worldometer but not the MEX official website.

For the 12th Sunday in a row the official stats for SMA indicate no new deaths and no new cases. I am not suggesting anything nefarious, but suspect it is due to something mundane like work schedules. But, that is one reason why I focus on the 7-day averages (below in the text and the graph) instead of the daily fluctuations. The 7-day average of new cases reported through the official site has dropped significantly in the last week.

For the 11th Sunday in a row the official stats for SMA indicate no new deaths and no new cases. I am not suggesting anything nefarious, but suspect it is due to something mundane like work schedules. But, that is one reason why I focus on the 7-day averages (below) instead of the daily fluctuations. And, rounding off to whole numbers, the current 7-day average of new cases is as high as it's ever been at 37 new cases per day. Deaths, fortunately, are much lower than previous peaks.

I am not suggesting anything nefarious, but suspect it is due to something mundane like work schedules. But, that is one reason why I focus on the 7-day averages (below) instead of the daily fluctuations.

I am not suggesting anything nefarious, but suspect it is due to something mundane like work schedules. But, that is one reason I focus on the 7-day averages (below) instead of the daily fluctuations.
