San Miguel de Allende Frequently Asked Questions

This site is an attempt to provide useful and timely information in an easy to use format. The source of much of the information will be, I hope, other members of this community. The objective is to help ex-pats living here and others thinking about moving or visiting here.

Please read and follow the Forum Rules before posting. The Forum Rules page also has contact information for the administrator of this site.

Try clicking around. In the desktop version try the links on the left and in the menu bar at the top. Try Members and You (if you are logged in) in the menu bar above. In the mobile version try the options on the menu at the top left (3 horizontal lines; aka Hamburger menu) and the one at the top right (3 stacked dots) in the menu bar.

Try out both the All Discussions view and the Categories view to see the two primary ways of navigating this site. To find something specific, if the Category view is not specific enough, try a Search (search bar at top on desktop; an option under top left menu on mobile) and the Advanced Search options.

Have a question relating to San Miguel or this site? Find an existing discussion or Start a New Discussion and ask.

Want to Start a New Discussion but not sure what category it should be in? Don't worry about it! Just pick one you think is relevant or General Discussion is always good. It's not critical.

Know the answer to a pending question? Please share what you know!

Glenn - Thanks very much for this forum. I have not checked out the full range of information but the daily digest is helpful. I have one comment. The recent donation to SMA charities was much appreciated - I am on the board of two of those charities. I got several comments from people that getting votes recorded was hard to do. There might have been a better way to explain how people could weigh in. I heard from some that they could make a comment but then not figure out how to vote. Jonathan Brown

I am already registered and am not sure if I am nominating in the right place, but please nominate the Refugee Relief Project under the auspices of the Latin American Relief Fund (see latinamericanrelieffund.org). We are raising money for the rent and utilities for Albergue ABBA, a migrant shelter in Celaya which is working very hard now to prepare for the huge number of refugees coming from Honduras and El Salvador, also Guatemala. Please help us to prepare for the many needs. The city of Celaya has stepped up and will open the stadium for the overflow from ABBA . At the shelter we can sleep 80 on beds, more on mattresses, but there is not nearly enough room for all the expected weary, hungry and desperate expected to arrive in the next week. Please support this nomination. Muchas gracias.
