HEALYcontemporáneo presents “Herencia Ancestral”, an exhibition of recent paintings and drawings by Guadalajara artist Patricia García. This first exhibition of the artist’s work in San Miguel de Allende, is a distillation and expansion of an artistic vocabulary built over the past twenty-five years. Hands, hearts, faces. flowers, Xolo dogs, are always at play in her work. “Herencia Ancestral” attempts to acknowledge the limitations and possibilities of the human condition, the human effort to navigate, and to shift our perceptions of the mundane into meaning and timelessness.

Noted art historian and critic Arturo Camacho has written: “An extrasensory world is perceived in some of her scenes, the character represented realistically, whether in a state of trance or hallucination, created by the masterful use of technique at the service of an imagination, with which Patricia García shows an ancestral heritage from a new perspective.”

Patricia García was born in Guadalajara and received her B.A. in Art from the University of Guadalajara in 2000. She has had 23 individual exhibitions and participated in over 70 group shows since 1997. Her numerous individual and group shows have taken place in galleries and museums throughout Mexico, and also in Cuba, Italy and the United States.

Work by Patricia García is included in the National Museum of Mexican Art, Chicago, Televisa, Guadalajara, Consejo Estatal para la Cultura y las Artes, Jalisco, Universidad de Guadalajara, and many private collections internationally.

A reception for the artist will be held at the gallery on Saturday 10 June, from 3-5 pm.
