This post is now closed. October nominations can be made at October Nominations.

All charities must be re-nominated to participate after September using the procedure at the bottom of this post. You can nominate or re-nominate now. We will have an October contest if we have at least six participants. September winners will not be eligible to participate in October. There is currently one charity nominated for October.

There will be one prize of $5,000 Mexican pesos awarded to the charity receiving the most votes in each of three contests in September. Contests will be limited to ten participants. Any charity receiving fewer than ten votes in the most recent contest will be dropped if needed to make room for new nominees.

All charities nominated for August are automatically nominated for September subject to the restriction that August winners are not eligible in September and the "ten vote" rule (see preceding paragraph). Similarly, September winners will not be eligible in October.

The three contests will be roughly in the weeks ending September 15, 22 and 29. More specifics will follow.

The following two groups are now nominated for September:
    1. Santuario Felino Rey Ashoka, A.C.

    2. Latin American Relief Fund / Refugee Relief Project

The following three groups are nominated for September contingent on the "ten vote" rule.
    1. Patronato Por Ninos de San Miguel de Allende, A.C.

    2. Casita Linda, A.C.

    3. Centro Infantil de los Angeles

The following are not eligible for September because they won a contest in August (Congratulations!).
    1. Audubon de México

    2. EdCaminos

    3. Caminos de Agua

    How to nominate

    1. Create a New Discussion about the Charity (see details below), then,
    2. Add a comment to this post nominating that charity.

In the New Discussion make the title the name of the charity being nominated. Select the category Charities. In that post please describe the mission of the charity, how to donate, a link to the websites or facebook pages, if any, and other relevant contact information for someone wishing to volunteer, donate, or get more information. The post must include at least one image or video relevant to the charity or its mission. One purpose of this post is to serve as an anchor for future comments, questions and discussion about that charity on this website.

For help creating Discussions see Creating Discussions and Comments. Feel free to contact me if you need technical assistance making such a post.

The 10 vote rule adds some interesting dynamics. I see that both of my favorite charities have already been nominated - but I would second both Centro Infantil and Patronado Pro Ninos. Both important children's charities in our city.

Hi, my name is Paula Nunes and I would like to nominate Caminos de Agua for the October contest. The Caminos de Agua mission is to provide open-source solutions for communities at-risk on our aquifer in Central Mexico, and provide those solutions for others confronting similar water challenges throughout the world. To read more about Caminos de Agua, please read the discussion I started.
