GW: The emerging consensus on Omicron is that the effects range from asymptomatic to mild to hospitalisation and to death and the percentage of cases resulting in hospitalisation or death are fewer than the delta variant. It is also expected that there will be many omicron cases so the absolute number of severe cases remains to be seen. Stay safe.

Latest Daily Changes:

• SMA: no new deaths, 39 new cases. * (Most new cases since September 2021).
• GTO: 11 new deaths, 1,589 new cases.
• MEX: 148 new deaths, 43,523 new cases. (Second highest new cases ever; highest was yesterday.)

* Covid case numbers have always been dramatically undercounted in Mexico, Guanajuato and San Miguel de Allende. The undercounting may be even more extreme now with Omicron, more asymptotic and mild cases, and home testing available.
