There is a reason why San Miguel de Allende is listed as Top Small City in the World to Visit by Condé Naste Traveler and Travel + Leisure magazines. This magical town in the Central Highlands draws visitors from around the world and is a magnet for artists, writers, actors, musicians, dancers and singers. And our cultural life just got richer!

Caja Negra is an independent resident professional theater company that has performed in several venues in San Miguel de Allende as well as Mexico City, Guadalajara and Ajijic, for the past seven years and is now expanding and growing into

Located in San Miguel de Allende and entirely artist run, this repertory company, the only one of its kind in San Miguel de Allende, will be inaugurating it’s performance space in November of 2021.

More than an acting company, Caja Negra Performing Arts is committed to implementing its mission of theater dedicated to a provocative exploration of society and a celebration of humanity, in support of the vision to create community, education, inclusivity: to establish programs for adult learning and to provide a bilingual young people’s theater offering acting and stage-craft education and experiences.

We will feature unique theater productions and introduce premiere guest artists, and look forward to being able to host events representing all of the performing arts.

A capital campaign has been launched to complete the theater interior now under construction, and will be located in Centro, adjacent to the elegant boutique hotel Casa De La Noche, Organos 19, SMA.

Preview Open House celebrations begin November 13, followed by our first three productions that will perform in repertory through Christmas.
