Workshop with Amy Gottlieb | Narrative Voice: Where Prose Comes Alive May 19 & 20.
We know a good voice when we hear it, but how do we achieve it on the page? In this workshop, we’ll explore how voice compels readers with a sense of authenticity, energy, music, character, and confidence. We will look at excerpts that demonstrate how to craft memorable voices that will energize your prose and make your work come alive. As you “borrow” effective voices, you’ll uncover authenticity and vitality in your work.

Workshop with Amy Gottlieb | Narrative Voice: Where Prose Comes Alive May 19 & 20.

Workshop with Laurie Gough | World Travels and Travel Writing: Turning One Passion Into Another May 17 & 19.
As long as wanderlust exists, the travel essay will never stop appealing to readers who want more than mere information. You’ll learn that to be an effective travel writer you must lead the reader into the wonder of a place, remembering that your experience can only be conveyed through specific details. We’ll discuss ‘finding’ the story; ways to begin; the importance of the quest and we’ll do fun and inspiring writing exercises, sharing our travel experiences through the written word.

In addition, she will touch on current and upcoming market trends and how to catch an agent’s eye. This seminar will also include writing exercises and is open to experienced writers and enthusiastic beginners.

Workshop with Judyth Hill | Shamanic Origins of Poetry: The Deep Magic of Saying May 18 & 20.
Exploring Poetry’s origins, we discover the deep Magic of Saying, a capacity for rare, wild insights, and attentive, musical language. When we write, aware of these roots, our writing ratchets up! Using Rothenberg’s superb collections, and source texts, we’ll learn ancient techniques of making poems that connect us from the fully celebrated Earth and chthonic energies to the profound, cross-cultural, trans-time and space, Holy Mysteries. Sure to be some of the most powerful, transformative writing you will ever do!

+ The Historical Walking Tours from Patronato Pro Niños are just a Click Away!
As we all know, the pandemic put an abrupt stop to our Top Rated Historical Walking Tours. These Tours are a celebrated win/win: the economically disadvantaged children of San Miguel received medical & dental services, and visitors (and residents) of San Miguel had a wonderful overview of our fabulous city and its rich cultural and historical heritage.

We restarted the Tours, as soon as we were safely able to, strictly on a private basis: these Tours are an important part of Patronato’s annual revenue stream, and the need for funding does not just go away because there is a crisis.
