There is some confusion about where the sites are / how many there are… There are TEN altogether (like last time) — 7 are run by the national government, and 3 belong to the municipality. Government communications (like, all the Guanajuato news outlets) only list the 7 national gov’t sites. Here are all ten, pasted below.

Waiting for your first or second shot in SMA?
Check the Covid-19 SMA Facebook page throughout the day for the latest updates.
We will update this post later today with any significant developments for SMA.

The normal timeframe for the second Pfizer shot is 3 to 6 weeks from the first which is April 9-30 for those vaccinated on March 19.

Shots for 50 somethings are now on the schedule for May and June.
    nk1bigfyoulqz1e8.png
On April 6 Mexico published an updated National Vaccination Policy (version 5) with an updated schedule with the start date for 50 something year olds and later stages back one month as compared to the earlier version of the document.

This does not change the schedule for second shots in SMA for those 60 and over that have already received their first shot.

"The planning for delivery and distribution, in accordance with the vaccine delivery schedule to the country, will consider the recommendations issued by the groups of scientific experts to comply with the vaccination schedules in the established period and guarantee the efficacy of the vaccines used."

    Second dose administration
Most vaccines against the SARS-CoV-2 virus use a two-dose application schedule of their vaccine to achieve the maximum reported efficacy against COVID-19.

At the time of publication of this National Policy, four of the vaccines contemplated for the vaccination strategy in Mexico, Pfizer-BioNTech, AstraZeneca, Sputnik V and Sinovac meet this condition, therefore, to the population administered as the first dose. Some of these products have the guarantee of the second dose.

The characteristics of each of the vaccines available in Mexico are available in the different technical application guides, available individually for each vaccine at vaccinacovid.gob.mx.

GW: The vaccines expected through March and April are more than enough to complete Stage 1 (primarily front line Covid health care workers), Stage 2 (other health care workers and those 60 and over) and Stage 3 (ages 50-59) of Mexico's vaccination plan.
Update March 16: If the 25.7 AstraZeneca doses expected in March and April get pushed back to May, then there are still enough doses expected through March and April to complete Stage 1 and Stage 2 of Mexico's vaccination plan. Completing Stage 3 would then require some doses expected in May to complete.

When updating the situation of the pandemic in Mexico, he said that 239 municipalities are making progress in vaccinating the population aged 60 years and over. Another 658 are programmed to immunize their inhabitants in this age range.

Older adults who for some reason were not vaccinated in the municipalities where the immunization has already been carried out, will be able to do so when it starts for the 50-59 age group.

The official clarified that, for various reasons, 14 municipalities in Chiapas and Oaxaca made the collective decision not to receive the vaccine. However, if any person from these demarcations wishes to have it applied, they may go to contiguous municipalities when the brigades go to immunize the teaching staff, starting this Tuesday, April 20.

In the next seven to nine days it is planned to immunize the remaining population over 60 years of age with at least the first dose; the authorities are waiting for those who for some reason have not received the vaccine to apply them, he said.

When speaking of the vaccination schedule for educational personnel in public and private schools, he recalled the dates for entities that advance in the management of the pandemic. ...

    National Policy Highlights
    The Planned Schedule
    nk1bigfyoulqz1e8.png

    Specific objectives
    • Vaccinate the people most susceptible to developing complications from COVID-19.
    • Reduce the number of hospitalizations and deaths.
    • Facilitate economic reopening and return to normal activities.
    • Vaccinate 70% of the population in Mexico to achieve group immunity.

    Strategy
The GTAV (grupo técnico asesor para la vacuna -- technical advisory group for the COVID-19 vaccine) recommends carrying out a strategy focused on reducing the number of deaths associated with COVID-19, designed based on the mortality observed in Mexico. ...

As recommended by the GTAV, age is the first priority axis, since age is the main risk factor for hospitalization and death in our country. (See also: "Vaccinate the 20% of the country that represent 95% of the deaths"). It is seconded by the personal comorbidities of those who are going to receive the vaccine ... the priority axis 1: age of the people, continues to be the main axis, with an emphasis on vaccinating as a priority within each age group those living with comorbidities. ...

Prioritization of the population to be vaccinated
Given the supply characteristics of the different vaccines, the vaccination of older adults will have a primary focus on greater territorial vulnerability, so it will start with the population that resides in scattered rural areas and will progressively continue until reach metropolitan areas. In this way, the gap in historical vulnerability established by the lack of access to health, which has had a negative impact on the risk of complications and death that by age they have, but that is exacerbated by the distance health care services. ....

In entities where the epidemic risk traffic light is maintained in green, an indication that the entity is at the lowest risk epidemic possible at that time, the teaching staff becomes a potential group to be immunized given the importance of returning to face-to-face school activities, thus mitigating the increase in the educational and developmental lag of minors, who due to their age, they present a certain degree of vulnerability, increased by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, this will depend on the availability of the vaccine in Mexico, and the rest of the characteristics of priorization.
