Official names have been announced for the virus responsible for COVID-19 (previously known as “2019 novel coronavirus”) and the disease it causes. The official names are:

The government of the state of Guanajuato through l to Ministry of Health reported that this March 17 has registered 4 cases of people with COVID-19 or Coronavirus.

Additional SMA Measures

The Municipal Government of San Miguel de Allende informs the population that, in addition to the measures reported on March 14 to avoid a health contingency caused by COVID-19, the following actions will be carried out:

1. Starting Tuesday, March 17, the geriatric center of the Municipal DIF in Palmita de Landeta will remain closed, until further notice.

2. Municipal Government workers over 70 years of age, people with disabilities and pregnant women will be on leave from March 17 to April 20, with pay.

3. To avoid conglomerations in public offices, the different directorates of the municipal government will work only with the necessary personnel promoting #SanaDistancia. However, we will expand the number of operators and telephone lines, in addition to social networks to be able to attend to those matters and citizen requirements, with the aim of preventing them from going to the offices, and being able to attend to the necessary cases.

The head of a hospital in the US state of Georgia has warned that supplies are running short after using five month’s worth of supplies in six days in the fight against coronavirus.

That comes amid growing concerns of equipment shortages in healthcare facilities across the US.

Phoebe Putney Health System CEO Scott Steiner told CNN that equipment at the healthcare provider’s flagship hospital in Albany, southwest Georgia, has been severely impacted by an increase in coronavirus cases.
