** Amigos de la Presa has moved the Mayan Ceremony/Spring Equinox Ceremony from March 21 to June 21 to celebrate Summer Equinox. **

The Mayan Ceremony is an ancient celebration held around a ring of fire. The festivity’s purpose is to give thanks to life itself, a blessing we receive upon arriving here on this earth. Additionally, it is a way to express gratitude and recognition for the deep connection we have with the universe, the earth, water, air, and fire.

Amigos de la Presa is hosting a Mayan Healing Ceremony on March 21, beginning at 6 p.m. Meet at the Amigos boathouse at 5:30 p.m. The ceremony will begin on the shore of the Presa Allende — a short walk from the boathouse.

All Amigos and Audubon members & friends are invited to attend. The ceremony will be more powerful with a strong group in attendance.

The ceremony will take place onshore with the option of being on the water. (A limited number kayaks are available for rental on a first come, first serve basis) To register: http://www.amigosdelapresa.org/events/ This will take you to the events calendar.

Instructions: Double click on the March 21st event and follow prompts to enter your personal information. In the message section tell us if you would like to be on the water in a kayak or for the onshore part of the ceremony only.

A 200 pesos/person contribution for the ceremony is suggested and will be collected at the boathouse. Kayak rental, 200 pesos.

The ceremony will be conducted by Azenet Macedo, a San Miguel resident, who is a healer in the Maya-Quiché Priestless, Shuar Shaman and Women of Medicine in the Lakota tradition. She is well known for her Mayan healing massage programs at LifePath.

Attendees are asked to wear an optional red pañuelo (bandana) on their head. We expect the ceremony to conclude and kayaks returned to the boathouse by approximately 8:30 p.m..

After you RSVP, an email will be sent to you with more details that you will want to be acquainted with before the celebration.
